Positive Space, Framed Original Figure Drawing

Positive Space, Framed Original Figure Drawing

16.5" H x 20.5" W Framed

'Positive Space' is an original expressive figure drawing drawn from life. It captures the sitter looking sideways, into space.

White charcoal was used to capture the light on the figure. Looking for the light more than the shadows is a technique that I come back to frequently in my figure drawings.

I think of the figure being in a positive space looking into the empty space on the paper. Traditionally negative space is empty space that provides breathing room and can lead to anything, infinite possibilities. I find that we need space to find an abundance of creativity.

The drawing is framed in a bronze frame to compliment the toned charcoal paper.
