Rachel Solimeno Artist Profile.jpg

Rachel (Morton) Solimeno (she/her) is a British born artist from Canterbury, UK, and currently lives in Seattle with her family, dog and cat.

As an artist and a scientist she has an inquiring eye and is a multidisciplinary artist. She paints contemporary portraits and dreamlike figurative landscapes in oils and also writes code and creates machine-learned physically layered portraits. Loose personal narratives weave their way into Rachel's colorful often quirky work, inviting you to reflect on things from a different angle.

In 2022 Rachel graduated from the Kang O’ Higgins contemporary painting atelier at Gage Academy of Art Seattle, a three year intensive BFA equivalent where she was awarded the Mary Gales Scholarship for a talented female identifying artist.

Having spent 25 years working in Artificial Intelligence she has concerns about the impact of technology on our planet and psyche. She believes the act of creating and observing physical art is an antidote to anxiety often felt in our increasingly digital age.

Her work is found in private collections in the US, UK and Italy, and in the permanent collection of The Ruth Borchard Self Portrait Collection in the UK. She has shown her work in group shows in galleries around Seattle including Figure Ground Gallery, Gallery Mack, Fountainhead Gallery, Ryan James Fine art, and at Antonio salon in Belltown where she curates rotating shows of local artists.
