Rachel Solimeno Artist Profile.jpg

Rachel (Morton) Solimeno (she/her) is a British born artist from Canterbury Kent, UK, and currently lives in Seattle with her family.

She is a contemporary figurative artist who paints psychologically charged narratives with a dream like quality. The colorful expressive exteriors have a modern quirky style but engage the viewer to look deeper and think twice since often things aren't quite as obvious as they seem..

Having spent 25 years working in Artificial Intelligence she has concerns about the impact of technology on our planet and psyche. She believes the act of creating and observing physical art is a required antidote to the increasingly digital age.

Rachel graduated from the Kang O’ Higgins contemporary painting atelier at Gage Academy of Art where was awarded the Mary Gales scholarship for a gifted female or female identifying artist. In 2020 she won 1st place award in Self Portrait Spitting Image competition and 2019, 2nd place in the Best of Gage landscape category.

Rachel works out of Equinox Studios in Georgetown, Seattle which has monthly art walks and open studios. She’s a mother of two teenage boys and also runs a rotating art program at her husband’s Antonio Salon in Belltown.

Her work is found in private collections in the US, UK and Italy and she has shown in multiple group shows in galleries around Seattle since 2008.
