My Grandmother 'Bollo' was a high gloss woman, powerful and driven, with a lot of complexities. She had an intriguing life worthy of a movie, and many hidden stories. This is one of two paintings she features in this exhibition, painted from one of her black and white poses she took in Africa in the 1950s. She merges with one of my paintings and becomes full spectral color. She was a brave survivor of cancer 5 times over, but smoked like a chimney til the end.. It's all history now. In this painting past, current and future are colliding at once.
