Radiant Refraction. Oil and Resin on Panel, 24x18"

Vintage mid-century modern melds with contemporary colors in this figure painting that connects time. She combines the past and present and is shining into the future, honoring the strong women in my personal history she is based on a vintage photo of my grandmother taken in the 50s. Swathes of neon colors rise up inside her, echoing details from another painting in my plasma series called "Alternate Realities". As you gaze into the piece you might also see your own reflection, creating a new narrative.
 
Painted entirely by hand on canvas mounted to panel, the acrylic underlayer is followed by oil paint. A final layer of UV protective art-resin adds depth and showcases the radiant refracted colors.
